Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What should I look for when selecting a good coach?
A: My view is that a good coach must have experienced being coached themselves and understand what it is to be coached so that they can empathise with their coachee. On a personal level it is essential that you trust your coach, feel safe with them and can build a positive relationship with them. My experience is that coaching brings out coachees' deepest fears and feelings so being comfortable with your coach is vital.
A: Generally I schedule a coaching session for 1 1/2 hours but it is possible to have longer sessions if required.

A:  The number and frequency of sessions depends totally on the coachee. Often one session will be sufficient for coaching and TFT for a specific issue. Some coachees prefer to continue with their coaching on a monthly, quarterly or occasional basis to resolve general issues in their life. It is entirely up to you. I do not recommend sessions more than once a month as after each session the coachee needs time to adjust to their new thoughts and feelings.

Q: Is is possible to have evening or weekend coaching sessions?

Q: Where do coaching sessions take place?
A: Coaching sessions take place in my practice room at my home in Cambridgeshire. A map, directions and public transport links will be sent out when you book a coaching session. It is occasionally possible to have coaching sessions elsewhere and this can be discussed on an individual basis. I do not recommend coaching in your own home as coaching requires you to focus on yourself without the distractions of day to day life.

Q: How much does it cost?
A: Prices are dependent on your requirements and circumstances. Typically I charge a fee per 1 1/2 hour session and offer discounts for multiple sessions booked in advance and for more than one coachee from the same household. If you wish your coaching session to take place away from my practice room additional costs associated with this will be incurred. Please contact me to discuss your individual requirements and circumstances.

Q: What can life coaching with TFT be helpful for?
A: Life coaching with TFT has been successfully used for a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties. Phobias, anxiety, addictive urges, traumas, insomnia, depression, stress (both specific and general) can all be helped or eliminated. Life coaching is also good for boosting self esteem and confidence, increasing self belief and self worth and finding purpose in life. Life coaching is great for people who are at a crossroads in their life and want help with deciding which way to turn. Physical health often also improves as a result of coaching.

Q: How is coaching different to counselling?
A: Coaching and counselling are subtly different. Counselling tends to deal with the immediate matter at hand, focusing on past events and feelings and can involve the cousellor giving advice and instructing. Coaching tends to work at a deeper level dealing with the subconsious beliefs that create the issues to be resolved. Once past issues have been settled coaching works forward to create a positive future for the coachee to build on. By working with the core beliefs changes tend to be more profound and sustained whilst developing future goals can give the coachee purpose to drive their life forward.

Q: How does Thought Field Therapy work?
A: A bit like electricity, nobody really knows how or why it works but it does. Thought Field Therapy uses the energy meridian points (similar to acupuncture and acupressure) that occur in all our bodies, when we are in a particular thought field (thinking hard about something) it is possible to destroy the permutations that create the emotions (fear, anxiety, desire) we feel when we think about that thing, event or experience by tapping gently on the correct energy meridian points in a particular sequence.

Q: Do I have to do anything to make coaching and TFT work for me?
A: The input of any coaching session is led by you and your thoughts. The outcome of a coaching session and the number of sessions you require is also largely in your control. There are things you can do or stop doing to accelerate your progress and during your session I may suggest activities to you that may help your progress or inform you of things that may be hampering you. It is entirely up to you whether you choose to act on these suggestions. Successful coaching sessions are as much down to the coachee as they are to the skills of the coach.
